behind the scenes

Bob, from the Puddle Cutters, sent me this photo that one of his group shot of me in the act of photographing him. So now you can get a glimpse of what the process looks like. That's me trying to focus the camera, my head underneath my jacket to view the image on the ground glass. The bucket down below is for me to put the negative in after I give the subject the print (the film produces both a print and a negative):

Here's the shot I took:

And here's what the bucket looks like, where I put the negative to soak. And you see the print I am about to give to the subject. This photo is by journalist Casey Parks - click here to see a link to her blog, and click here to read her story about me in The Oregonian.

video interview with me

A former student of mine from Clark College who is now attending Washington State Univ. in Vancouver, WA had to do a project interviewing a living photographer for a photo history class, and she chose me. Here is the embedded video:

Or to see a larger resolution version click here on this link.

I think it came out pretty well. She said she removed photos she had by R. Frank and Garry Winogrand before positing on YouTube because she was worried about copyright issues. But still I think it's a strong piece, getting to hear me talk about my work while looking at the photos.
