New Handmade book of Polaroids!!!

I am very excited to show off my first in a series of limited edition, handmade photos books: I just finished this small, handmade book of polaroids I shot in the North Cascades last summer, entitled "North Cascades Walkabout." It's an intimate book -- 26 photos, 7.5" x 7" -- really quite small and precious.

It's my intention to produce a series of these books -- approximately one edition every 6 months -- from different projects that I have worked on over the years. Each will be in a very limited edition (20 copies), archivally printed and bound by me by hand.

So here is the first offering, if you have any more questions or want to see more images, or would like to place an order, please contact me at bobbyfoto@earthlink.net

North Cascades Walkabout
26 color photographs -- 54 pages; 7.5" x 7"
sewn, tape and glue binding (archival, acid free)
signed and editioned (out of 20)
$130 each, plus shipping

Click here to see a gallery of more photos -- most of which appear in the "Walkabout" book. (Please note not all photos in this web gallery appear in the book.) Again, please email me at bobbyfoto@earthlink if you have any questions, want to see more scans of the book, and/or would like to order a limited edition copy.

Polaroids are Dead! Long Live Polaroids!!

It seems like Polaroids are all the buzz! I just finished my handmade book of Polaroids from last years' travels in the North Cascades -- several of my students have been shooting Polaroids -- and I recently saw and exhibit of Ryan Brubaker's work (who is now setting up a Polaroid photobooth each "Last Thursday" on Alberta) -- all in the last month or so. Crazy!

And just when I thought we were hearing Polaroid's death knell with the ceasing of production of 600 film -- someone is trying to revive the polaroid factory here's a nice little audio/photo gallery, and check this gallery of polaroids out (submitted by readers of the NYtimes.com).

Long live Polaroids!!!

I've noticed some good articles and links lately -- here's a few: this, from this morning's NYTimes, a nice multi-media piece with some good photos, telling a compelling and personal story of an orthodox Jewish accountant in NYC with photos by Todd Heisler:

and here's a story about photographer Danny Lyon, with a nice slide show too:

And this article from a couple of days ago from the NYTimes about recently found photos of Robert Capa, David Seymour, and Gerda Taro:
