snowy wanderings

here are some shots from yesterday and today. enjoy!

this morning -- using the snow blower instead of the "blade" (plow).

in case you wondered what the whole thing looks like. I took the doors off the tractor cab to get better visibility and fresh moring air.

icicles hanging from my back porch.

I took a little walk passing through the neighboring camp. the snow was up to my waist. this is what I found.

beautiful day here in central oregon. this is looking across suttle lake to black butte (looking pretty white!)

I'm not so sure if this one (below) holds up. but at least you see a little more of the landscape.

another morning shot of the terrain at sunrise.

Snow, snow & more snow!

The snow keeps falling here. I feel like I'm living behind the wheel of the tractor. and now those dreams are starting -- all night long pushing snow -- trying to smooth it out -- wondering where to put it all.... It is beautiful though -- so I guess I should take more time to stop and enjoy it -- if ony to shoot a few pictures out of the tractor window.

These two are at dusk yesterday -- the sun finally poked it's head out from behind the snow clouds for about 15 minutes.

but then the sun went away -- and darkness decended... (just for the night, thankfully!)

sometimes it's difficult to see through the snow windshield and white-grey-ness where the roadside begins or ends. Its just one endless blanket of snow....

Ode to Harry Callahan

I'd like to say this was an original idea of mine -- but all the credit goes to seƱor callahan.
it's still nice to look at.

Snow Plowing

that's what I've been doing for two days straight --- plowing snow in a Kubota tractor. we've had around a foot and a half yesterday and today. here's a couple of shots -- from my tractor -- maybe the start of a new series... ?

Burnt Forest Cascades

I have moved to my winter residence at Caldera -- near Sisters, Ore, and Camp Sherman -- working as the site manager and resident artist. Stay tuned for much new work for the great snowy Cascades.

I went for a short walk midday today up the hill from my winter home into the burnt forest. slight dusting of snow on ground...

Rabbit Wanderings: Trip to California for Thanksgiving

Here's a few new shots:

this first is riding back from californina (from my thanksgiving visit with my family at my sisters in los altos) -- I shot this as the train pulled into portland at the end of the trip. that's I-5, looking west across the river.

(above) somewhere near the border of california and oregon shot this out of the train window at frosty dawn in the mountains.

Both of these below are headed south from oregon at sunset.

Boy, there is just something so soothing about watching the sun setting through trees wisking by -- from a train headed south -- on a long ride to nowhere -- with plenty of time to get there...
